Pickford Pictures
Like Fresno Filmworks, local photographer & filmmaker Joel Pickford was a orphan when Suzi Arnold left town for the big city and bright lights of New York. In taking over the site I cleaned up a lot of legacy code, reworked the overall site layout a bit and the main navigation menus completely. However, the biggest change was the implementation of a Flash-based photo gallery system for displaying Joel’s wonderful photos.

Lee Herrick
With the publication of his first book of poetry Lee Herrick needed a web site, which I was more than happy to provide. This project is still evolving, so count on more info to come later.

-
ECCTYC
The English Council of California Two-Year Colleges was in dire need of a renovation, as the last major changes had been made sometime around the turn of the century. Anyway, being on the board—and more than a little insane—I offered to
helpcompletely redesign the site. Not only has it received amajor face liftcomplete re-fabrication, but the underpinnings are completely reworked: the frames & tables are gone and the whole thing is humming smoothly on a Textpattern foundation with a healthy dose of CSS to keep things lookin’ purty and even a touch of elegantly-degradable Javascript to make the twinkly bits sparkle.

Fresno Filmworks
This design was originally created by Suzi Arnold at think inkless, but I’m doing the maintenance now that Suzi calls NYC her home. I have reconfigured the navigation code to be more semantic, incorporated embedded previews into the movie pages, and adjusted many of the fonts and colors for better readability and display. Actually, at this point I’ve almost completely re-written the entire code-base of the site while making only slight aesthetic changes. But those days are quickly coming to a close, and a completely new, completely different design is in the works.

Fresno Poets' Association
This is really the web site that started it all, at least in any official capacity. It’s now in its third iteration, and I’ve actually already written quite a bit about the design process for the About page (scroll down to the “Colophon” section), but the short version is that everything save the author photos was created by hand and Textpattern keeps all the content (via PHP and a MySQL database) wrangled.

In the Grove Literary Journal
Another labor of love, In the Grove is the wonderful California-focused literary journal founded by Lee Herrick, a good friend and colleague of mine at Fresno City College. Again, everything—save the cover photos—was handcrafted by yours truly, including the new logo. The site is currently static (HTML-based), but rest assured a transition to a dynamic, CMS-run code-base is on the horizon.

FritzHubbard.org
This is really just a personal site for my wife and I (which means, really, just me), but its primary function is as a design and technology test-bed, so I don’t go screwing up a client site because I “wanted to try this cool new ______ “ and didn’t yet know how to completely bend said new idea to my will. So be warned, if you pop over to FritzHubbard.org and everything is FUBAR, you know I’m trying out something new and everything will be back to normal—and possibly improved—shortly.
Past Projects

-
CindyWathen.com
Short-term contract site for local author Cindy Wathen. This project also included a new design for the client’s business card. The design for both was inspired by the client’s affinity for the Mid-Century Modern and Danish Modern design movements, and included custom photography for the header image. That’s my antique (c.1948) Smith-Corona “Clipper” portable typewriter featured and, yes, it’s still in perfect working order. Heck, I can still buy replacement ink ribbons for it.

-
RiverTree Productions
Short-term contract site for a local mobile production studio. They wanted a look that was simple and clear, and “hi-tech but not cold.” I think I achieved that quite nicely.

-
MedSearch Global
This was a short-term contract job I did for a recruiter specializing in the physical therapy field. It’s pretty simple, just a brochure-site really, with some customized contact forms and info about the services offered. Logo was custom designed.
